Who we are
Digital Nomads Magazine is an online publication for remote workers and digital nomads, at digitalnomadsmagazine.com.
The data controller is Authentika Studio.
For anything about your data, email media@digitalnomadsmagazine.com. We are small enough that we are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer, so your email reaches the people who run the magazine directly.
What we collect, why, and on what basis
We collect very little. Everything below is either given to us by you or generated by your visit.

We do not run advertising, we do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use your data to make automated decisions or to profile you.
Analytics, and your choice
Analytics do not run until you allow them. On your first visit we ask. If you decline, or simply ignore the question, nothing analytics-related runs and we remember that.
If you allow it, two tools run:
- Google Analytics 4 - receives your IP address (anonymised), device and browser information and the pages you visit, and sets cookies. Advertising features, ad personalisation and Google Signals are switched off.
- Our own statistics tool at stats.authentika.studio, hosted by us - stores a random identifier in your browser and records pages viewed, scroll depth and time on page. It does not read anything you type.

Who we share data with
These are our processors. Each receives only what it needs.
- Brevo (France) - sends the newsletter and form notifications. Receives your email address and anything you type into a form.
- Google (Ireland and USA) - Google Analytics, with your consent only.
- Unsplash (USA) - article images load from their servers, so they receive your IP address and the page you are viewing. This happens on page load because the images are part of the article.
- IONOS (Germany) - hosts our server, where the site and the subscriber list live.
- Hostinger (Lithuania) - hosts our editorial mailbox, so it receives email you send us.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.
Transfers outside the UK and EEA
Google and Unsplash are based in the United States, so some data reaches servers outside the UK and EEA. Those transfers rely on the UK and EU adequacy decisions for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified under it, and otherwise on Standard Contractual Clauses together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. You can ask us for details of the safeguards that apply.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete it, where we have no overriding reason to keep it.
- Restrict how we use it while a question about it is resolved.
- Object to processing we base on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time, with no reason needed.
- Portability - receive data you gave us in a machine-readable form.
- Withdraw consent at any time, for the newsletter or analytics. Withdrawing does not affect anything done before you withdrew.
Email media@digitalnomadsmagazine.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. If you are in the EEA, you may complain to your own national supervisory authority instead.
Marketing preferences
The newsletter is double opt-in: you ask for it, then confirm by clicking a link in an email. We keep the date you subscribed and the date you confirmed, so we can show your consent was given.
Every newsletter carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and your email client may also offer an unsubscribe button using the standard List-Unsubscribe header. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately, not in ten days. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
We do not send more than we said we would, we do not pass your address to anyone else for their marketing, and we never sell the list.
Children
This site is not intended for children under 13. We ask you to confirm you are 13 or older before you subscribe or send us a form, and that confirmation is checked on our server rather than only in the page. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.
Security and where data lives
The site and the subscriber list run on a private server we control, in Germany. Access is restricted and traffic is encrypted in transit. Backups are encrypted and held off-site. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to a minimum, which is the most reliable protection there is.
Changes
We update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will say so in the newsletter rather than quietly editing the page.
